Vietnam police issue alert on land‑title (sổ đỏ) scams using VNeID app

The police of Hưng Hà commune in Hưng Yên province have warned residents that fraudsters are impersonating local officials and demanding that owners of land‑title certificates (sổ đỏ) integrate their documents into the VNeID application. The scammers contact victims by phone or Zalo, present themselves as UBND or land‑registry officers, and send suspicious links, QR codes or fake app installers. Once the victim installs the software and provides personal data—such as ID photos, bank account details, OTP codes—the criminals steal funds or misuse the information.

Authorities stress that government officials never handle land‑related procedures through phone calls or social‑media messages. All official notifications are delivered in writing or in person. Citizens are urged not to click unknown links, to download the genuine VNeID app only from official app stores, to keep personal credentials confidential, to verify requests directly at the commune office, and to report any suspicious activity to the nearest police station.
