Vietnam police issue arrest warrant for Truong Quoc Cường over Phú Quốc land fraud

An Giang provincial police have issued a wanted notice for 45‑year‑old Truong Quoc Cường, a resident of the Phú Quốc special zone, on charges of "fraudulent appropriation of property". Cường claimed to own a 20,000 m² plot behind the Phú Quốc People's Court that was being reclaimed and offered to sell 2,000 m² to two local men, N.V.C (36) and N.Q.A (48). The victims transferred a total of about 1.35 billion VND in deposits from May 2022, but no contract or land‑survey documents were ever provided. By September 2025 the buyers discovered the land was still under dispute and belonged to other owners. Cường fled the area after the investigation was opened, prompting police to place him on a wanted list.
