Vietnam police issue guidance on VNeID judicial record usage

The Dak Lak Provincial Police have issued guidance regarding the use of judicial record information on the VNeID national identification application. This follows the upcoming implementation of Law No. 107/2025/QH15, which amends and supplements several articles of the Law on Judicial Records, effective July 1, 2026.

The new law aims to reduce paperwork and administrative pressure by promoting the use of electronic information via VNeID. Authorities have cautioned citizens to distinguish between two different services to avoid unnecessary costs:

1. Using integrated information: Accessing, viewing, and using judicial record information already integrated into a VNeID account is completely free of charge.

2. Requesting a new certificate: If a citizen requests the competent authority to issue a new judicial record certificate (either paper or new electronic version), they must still pay the prescribed fees. Standard fees are currently 200,000 VND per person per request, with some priority cases paying 100,000 VND or receiving exemptions.
