Vietnam police prosecute 40 holiday‑contract fraud cases, seize billions of dong

Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security announced that police in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City have opened investigations into a large-scale “holiday‑contract” fraud scheme. About 2,500 complaints were received, leading to the prosecution of 40 cases involving 525 suspects and an estimated loss of roughly 2,600 billion Vietnamese dong.

The authorities described the scams as using promises of free services, gifts, high interest rates and limited‑time offers to lure middle‑aged and elderly investors, who were then required to pay large upfront sums that were never returned. Police are urging any victims nationwide to come forward with information to aid the investigation and recover assets.
