Vietnam police rescue victims in online kidnapping scam and forest‑lost businessman

Police in Hanoi intervened to stop an online kidnapping scam that targeted a 20‑year‑old university student. The perpetrators pretended to be judicial officials, demanded 150 million VND from the student's family, and forced the victim to call his home claiming he had been seized. Authorities verified the deception, rescued the student safely and prevented the theft.

In a separate incident, police in Quảng Ngãi province rescued a 50‑year‑old man from Lam Đồng who had become lost after wandering roughly 550 km into a remote forest. He was carrying more than 1.2 billion VND in cash, gold and bank deposits. After a six‑hour search, officers located him exhausted and returned both the man and his entire assets to his family in Lam Đồng.
