Vietnam police seize 1,100 smuggled diamonds and arrest dozens in nationwide crime crackdown

Vietnamese law‑enforcement agencies announced the seizure of more than 1,100 illegally imported diamonds, valued at roughly 280 billion VND, and the arrest of 22 suspects linked to a transnational smuggling network. The operation was part of a broader crackdown that also targeted drug‑trafficking rings, illegal mining of titan ore, and the production and sale of counterfeit goods. Separate investigations resulted in the detention of a former chairman of a mining company on corruption charges and the arrest of individuals involved in large‑scale counterfeit luxury‑goods sales.

The coordinated actions, carried out by police forces in Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi and other provinces, underscore the government's focus on dismantling organised crime groups that threaten public safety and fiscal revenues.
