Vietnam police target online misinformation and fraudulent savings schemes
The Da Nang police announced that they have identified and processed more than 100 Facebook accounts that posted misleading comments on anti-state websites such as “thoibao.de”, “Lê Trung Khoa”, and “Nguyễn Văn Đài”. Between 10‑20 June, the cyber‑security department coordinated with local units to verify, warn, and educate 79 individuals, most of whom admitted to sharing distorted content. After receiving legal briefings, the offenders removed their comments, left the groups, and signed agreements not to repeat the behavior. The police continue to verify additional cases.
The Hanoi police issued a separate alert warning citizens about a surge of fraudulent high‑interest savings offers circulating on platforms like Facebook, Zalo, TikTok and Telegram. Scammers create fake bank pages, websites and messages promising returns of 15‑20 % per year, then solicit personal banking details, passwords, OTPs or direct transfers to personal accounts. Victims are urged to verify official banking channels, avoid sharing confidential information, and report any suspicious activity to the authorities.
