Vietnam police test workers for drugs at Da Nang port and Hanoi sites

On 5 August, more than 250 officers from the Son Trà ward police in Da Nang, together with the city’s drug‑crime investigation unit, carried out drug‑testing and residency checks of workers at Thọ Quang port, the largest fish‑port in Central Vietnam. The operation also inspected nearby lodging facilities and focused on migrant labourers; a single positive test had been recorded in a previous sweep.

From 6 August through 16 August, the Bồ Đề ward police in Hanoi launched a high‑intensity residency and drug‑testing campaign at construction sites and worker camps. Officers tested workers, especially those from other provinces, and identified three rapid‑test positives. The police are verifying the results and will pursue legal action. Both operations were coordinated with contractors and emphasized prevention of drug‑related crime among labour forces.
