Vietnam police warn of livestream prize‑ticket scams

Police in Vietnam have issued a warning about online livestreams that masquerade as prize‑ticket draws. Fraudsters create fake fan pages and use multiple fake accounts to promote contests promising cash, phones, motorcycles or gold. Victims are enticed to pay small fees for tickets or verification, then pressured to pay additional charges such as “prize fees,” taxes or shipping costs. Once money is transferred, scammers either demand more payments or cut off contact, leaving victims defrauded of their funds. Authorities advise the public to be skeptical of any online contest that requires payment before receiving a prize, to verify the legitimacy of such offers, and to report suspicious activity to the police.
