Vietnam police warn of World Cup 2026 model recruitment scams

Scammers have created numerous fake social‑media accounts and websites, impersonating media companies, art schools and well‑known brands to post bogus recruitment ads for models, actors and brand ambassadors linked to the upcoming World Cup 2026. Targeting students during summer holidays, they promise easy work, high earnings and opportunities to meet celebrities. Victims are asked to provide personal identification, bank details and to pay verification fees, deposits, uniform costs or other charges, often via private messaging groups. Initial small refunds are used to build trust before larger sums are demanded, after which the scammers disappear with all the money.

Police in Phú Thọ province advise the public to verify any recruitment or promotional offers through official channels, avoid transferring money or sharing personal data with unknown online contacts, and report suspicious activity promptly. Parents are urged to discuss such offers with their children and help them recognize fraud tactics.

The warning aims to protect students and other internet users from falling victim to these schemes.
