Vietnam policy capital supports rural livelihoods

Policy-based capital is providing sustainable livelihoods for residents in mountainous regions of Vietnam. Through loans from the Vietnam Bank for Social Policies, local households are able to invest in essential production equipment, seedlings, and fertilizers.

In Cat Van village, Pham Thi Thu utilized a 100 million VND loan in 2020 to develop macadamia production. Following the repayment of that loan, her family secured additional credit in 2025 for clean water, rural sanitation, and job creation support. Her macadamia orchard is projected to yield approximately 7 tons this year, with an expected revenue of 150 million VND after expenses.

Similarly, in Que Phu village, the availability of credit has helped modernize traditional crafts. Ha Thi Oanh, a director at an agricultural service cooperative, used loans to invest in machinery for incense production, increasing productivity and reducing manual labor compared to previous traditional methods.
