Vietnam Post to launch UAV delivery route in 2026

Vietnam Post, in collaboration with the Ho Chi Minh City Department of Science and Technology, plans to launch a postal transport route using unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) connecting Can Gio and Vung Tau by February 2026.

The initial phase will prioritize documents and e-commerce parcels weighing under 5 kg. These UAVs will feature autonomous systems and onboard cameras for journey monitoring. The project aims to integrate drone technology into the existing postal chain, creating a 'digital journey' where physical movement is synchronized with real-time data tracking.

This initiative reflects a broader shift in the postal sector toward becoming a digital-physical connectivity infrastructure. In 2025, the market is expected to process approximately 4.1 billion shipments, with over 90% consisting of packages and parcels.
