Vietnam prepares for Mid-Autumn Festival with lantern festivities

Preparations for the Mid-Autumn Festival are underway in Vietnam, featuring both community competitions and commercial trends. In Nghia Lo Ward, authorities are organizing a “Beautiful Mid-Autumn Lantern Model” competition from September 18 to 20. The event will feature creative, self-designed models such as star, lotus, and dragon lanterns displayed on four-wheeled carts for street parades and exhibitions at Golden Field Square.

In Ho Chi Minh City, the Hai Thuong Lan Ong lantern street has already begun its seasonal preparations. Merchants are highlighting a new 3D paper unicorn lantern as a potential “hot trend” for the year. These lanterns feature moving parts that react to the holder's movements and are available as both DIY kits and finished products, priced between 60,000 and 80,000 VND.
