Vietnam prepares traditional boat racing festivals for National Day
Traditional boat racing festivals are being prepared across various regions in Vietnam to celebrate National Day on September 2.
In Hòa Trạch Commune, the Cảnh Dương village is hosting its traditional sea-based boat racing festival. The community is divided into four color-coded teams—blue, red, purple, and yellow—with residents wearing corresponding colors and decorating their streets for a month leading up to the event. The festival serves as a cultural tradition to pray for favorable weather and safe fishing voyages.
In Lệ Thủy, Quảng Trị, the Kiến Giang River is preparing for its annual traditional rowing and racing festival. This event, often referred to by locals as ‘Independence Tet,’ draws thousands of residents and tourists. The upcoming festivities are scheduled to run from late August through September 2, featuring 21 male rowing teams and 8 female racing teams competing along the riverbanks.
