Vietnam President To Lam calls for modernized People's Police on 64th anniversary

On 18 July in Hanoi, Vietnam’s General Secretary and President To Lam attended a meeting organized by the Party Committee of the Central Public Security and the Ministry of Public Security to mark the 64th anniversary of the People's Police (20 July 1962 – 20 July 2026).

He called for building a more elite, modernised force that can meet new demands, highlighted the achievements of the two‑tier local police model, and thanked retired officers for continuing to support national security and to educate young people about revolutionary values.

To Lam also emphasized the importance of the veterans’ association in the nationwide movement to protect the country’s security at the grassroots level.
