During his visit to New York for the 81st UN General Assembly, Vietnamese General Secretary and President To Lam engaged in extensive diplomatic activities. He delivered a policy speech at the UN General Assembly, proposing four major orientations to manage global transformations, including restoring international trust and respecting the UN Charter.

To Lam also participated in a ceremony with United Nations agencies, witnessing the signing of new cooperation frameworks for the 2027-2031 period with UNDP, UNICEF, and UNFPA. Additionally, an agreement was reached to establish a regional cybercrime prevention center in Vietnam with UNODC.

On the bilateral front, To Lam met with leaders from Fiji, Thailand, and Australia to discuss cooperation in agriculture, renewable energy, and strategic partnerships. In the United States, he held meetings with US officials, including US Trade Representative Jamieson Greer, to discuss advancing the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership, specifically focusing on trade, high technology, semiconductors, and supply chains. He also received the FPA Medal from the Foreign Policy Association.
