Vietnam Prime Minister orders crackdown on educational exam fraud
The Prime Minister of Vietnam has issued a directive to strengthen the prevention and control of fraud in examinations, testing, and assessments within the education and training sector. The directive mandates that the Minister of Education and Training implement specific solutions within November and December of this year.
While educational assessment processes have seen improvements, the directive notes that fraud and violations of examination regulations still occur in some areas. These issues, including breaches of integrity in scientific research and learning, distort assessment results and impact human resource quality, educational fairness, and social trust.
Key causes identified include a lack of responsibility among some educators and administrators, a persistent ‘achievement obsession,’ and inadequate monitoring mechanisms. The directive calls for a shift from merely detecting and punishing violations to proactive risk management and early prevention to ensure the principle of ‘real learning, real testing, and real assessment’ is upheld.
