Vietnam Prime Minister orders review of student welfare policies
Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng has issued Official Dispatch No. 62 regarding the implementation of policies and regimes for students from disadvantaged backgrounds, ethnic minority areas, and regions with difficult socio-economic conditions.
The directive follows media reports of a school in Điện Biên province appealing to organizations and individuals for donations of rice and essential supplies to ensure students can attend school. In response, the Prime Minister has instructed the Chairman of the Điện Biên Provincial People's Committee to urgently verify these reports and ensure that all central and local policies for eligible students are implemented fully and promptly.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister directed ministers and provincial leaders to review and implement policies for children and students in boarding and semi-boarding schools, particularly those in border communes, mountainous areas, and coastal or island regions. Local authorities are tasked with mobilizing legal resources to support students in poverty or vulnerable circumstances to ensure they have the necessary conditions for education.
