Vietnam Prime Minister proposes tax exemptions for school and hospital meal services
Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has proposed exempting corporate income tax and personal income tax for businesses providing meal services to schools and hospitals. During a discussion on October 23 regarding amendments to three tax laws and the Bidding Law, the Prime Minister stated that the reduction in budget revenue would be minimal compared to the potential social benefits.
The proposal aims to institutionalize resolutions focused on breakthroughs in education, training, and public health protection. By reducing the tax burden on meal providers, the government hopes to improve the quality of food services in educational and medical facilities. The Prime Minister emphasized that while the Ministry of Finance continues to review the exact figures, the policy's significance outweighs the loss in tax revenue. He also noted that existing financial documentation systems would allow for effective cost control to prevent the misuse of the policy, while stressing that food safety must remain the top priority.
