Vietnam prioritizes quantum technology for national strategic development

Vietnam is prioritizing quantum technology as a central component of its national strategic development for science, technology, and innovation. Following the implementation of Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, quantum technology is being integrated into the country's strategic product categories to reshape the knowledge economy and key industries.

Vietnam National University, Hanoi, has transitioned toward an interdisciplinary approach by establishing strategic industrial technology research institutes focused on semiconductors, quantum technology, and AI for sustainable development. The university is currently researching the fabrication of hybrid superconductor-semiconductor qubits using 2DEG materials to build core research capabilities within the country.

Additional research efforts are focused on quantum computing and post-quantum cryptography. Experts emphasize the need for Vietnam to proactively identify risks in information security and digital infrastructure while developing fundamental science and specialized multi-disciplinary human resources to ensure strategic autonomy.
