Vietnam prioritizes sci-tech diplomacy and strategic transformation

Vietnam is pivoting its national development strategy to emphasize science, technology, and digital transformation. At the 33rd Diplomatic Conference, Party General Secretary and State President To Lam introduced the concept of "sci-tech diplomacy," tasking the diplomatic sector with building international networks of technology partners, research institutes, and experts to bring advanced knowledge into the country.

This shift is formalized through Politburo Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which positions science and technology at the center of Vietnam's growth model. Key priorities include artificial intelligence, semiconductors, biotechnology, and new energy. The resolution aims to attract at least three of the world's leading technology corporations to establish headquarters in Vietnam by 2030.

Parallel to technological advancement, the government is pursuing four strategic transformations to drive economic growth. These include streamlining administration through digital transformation, improving public service access, and managing natural resources more efficiently. Experts suggest these moves aim to consolidate essential sectors and ensure that development serves the population's interests while maintaining stability and reliable economic partnership status.
