Vietnam promotes cultural identity through digital technology and tourism

Vietnam is launching several initiatives to promote national culture through digital innovation and tourism. The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, in collaboration with VTC Multimedia Corporation, has launched the ‘Identity 2026’ program. This initiative encourages participants to use digital technology and artificial intelligence (AI) to create visual and auditory content that explores Vietnamese cultural themes.

The program aims to disseminate the goals of recent government resolutions regarding cultural development and serves as a communication campaign leading up to Vietnam Culture Day on November 24. While AI is permitted for creating vodcasts and image descriptions to increase interactivity, officials emphasized that technology serves as a medium to enrich, rather than replace, human-driven cultural values.

In Da Nang, the Department of Culture, Sports and Tourism has announced the ‘Top 100 Da Nang Touchpoints 2026’ program. Following over 1,500 proposals and 42,000 votes, the list categorizes local attractions into six groups: identity, taste, pristine, tranquility, moments, and life. Featured locations include Hoi An Ancient Town, My Son Sanctuary, Son Tra Peninsula, and various traditional craft villages.

The program seeks to connect these individual sites into themed travel itineraries, ranging from urban and coastal experiences to heritage and mountainous regions, with the goal of diversifying tourism products and increasing visitor stay durations.
