Vietnam promotes digital commerce and derivatives market development

Vietnam is advancing initiatives to integrate its businesses into the global economy through digital trade and modernized financial frameworks. In Hai Phong, the Department of Industry and Trade, in collaboration with the Vietnam E-commerce Association, launched a program to help young entrepreneurs and cooperatives utilize digital platforms for international export. The initiative focuses on cross-border e-commerce policies for 2026–2030, international business skills, and the use of artificial intelligence and logistics solutions to reach global markets via platforms like Amazon.

Simultaneously, the Vietnamese government is working to professionalize its commodities derivatives market. The Ministry of Industry and Trade has approved a development scheme for the period 2026–2030, aiming to create a transparent, safe, and liquid market that aligns with international practices. This includes a draft Law on Derivatives Transactions submitted to the National Assembly to establish a unified legal framework. International experts, including representatives from the US-based CME Group, have expressed interest in sharing expertise regarding transaction organization, clearing, and risk management to support Vietnam's market integration.
