Vietnam promotes ethnic minority cultural heritage preservation
Vietnam is implementing various initiatives to preserve and promote the intangible cultural heritage of its ethnic minority groups.
In Quang Ninh province, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism has officially recognized the Dao Thanh Y people's 'Cap Sac' ritual as a national intangible cultural heritage. Local artisans in Quang La commune are actively working to pass these traditions down to younger generations to ensure the customs remain a living part of the community.
In Thanh Hoa province, the Department of Ethnic Culture, in collaboration with local authorities, organized a training program focused on the folk songs, dances, and music of the Thai ethnic group. The initiative aims to enhance community capacity for heritage preservation and integrate these traditional art forms into local tourism development to support both cultural continuity and economic growth.
