Vietnam promotes infrastructure cooperation at AIIB Annual Meeting

At the 11th Annual Meeting of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) in Doha, Qatar, Vietnamese officials engaged in high-level discussions regarding digital infrastructure and financial cooperation.

Nguyễn Ngọc Cảnh, Deputy Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam, participated in a workshop focused on digital public infrastructure (DPI) as a driver for economic resilience. He emphasized that the value of DPI lies in the synchronized connection between digital identity, data, payments, and financial services, noting that system resilience depends on safety, reliability, and the ability to maintain operations during crises.

Simultaneously, delegations from Vietnam's Ministry of Finance and the State Bank of Vietnam held technical meetings with AIIB leadership to discuss cooperation for the 2026–2030 period. Discussions included exploring AIIB's $10 billion rapid budget support package and planning negotiations for co-financed budget support loans with Germany's KfW and Italy's CDP. Officials also reviewed the progress of key projects, including Metro Line 2 and power grid upgrades by EVNNPT.
