Vietnam promotes Major Tran Van Tung to Lieutenant Colonel posthumously

Vietnam's Minister of National Defence, General Phan Van Giang, has signed a decision to posthumously promote Major Tran Van Tung to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel. The promotion recognizes his bravery and dedication to protecting citizens.

On September 12, while returning to his unit after completing a mission, Major Tung observed a person in danger in the Tra Ly River. He immediately jumped into the swift currents to attempt a rescue but was swept away and went missing.

Lieutenant General Luong Van Kiem, Commander of Military Region 3, delivered the promotion decision to the family of the deceased officer on September 14. Military officials also visited the family in Hung Yen province to offer condolences and ensure that all necessary policies and funeral arrangements were handled appropriately.
