Dak Lak police prosecute brothers for selling 120 million pieces of personal data

Police in Dak Lak province have prosecuted two brothers, Nguyen Hung Trung Phuong and Nguyen Hung Nam Phuong, for the illegal sale of approximately 120 million pieces of personal data.

Investigations revealed that the data was unlawfully collected from cyberspace and subsequently analyzed and synthesized to be sold to clients upon request. The illicit profits gained from these transactions were reportedly used to fund online gambling activities. The stolen information spans various sectors, including banking, credit, telecommunications, healthcare, and government administration. The datasets contained sensitive details such as full names, dates of birth, citizen identification numbers, addresses, phone numbers, and professional titles.

To conceal their activities, the suspects utilized anonymous accounts on platforms such as Telegram and Facebook, often conducting transactions using cryptocurrency.
