Vietnam proposes national database to coordinate construction materials

The Ministry of Agriculture and Environment has submitted a report to the Prime Minister regarding the review and coordination of ordinary construction materials to support key national projects in Vietnam.

The report indicates that Vietnam's mineral resources for construction materials are generally sufficient to meet socio-economic development and long-term national project requirements. While many provinces possess abundant resources and excess mining capacity, the distribution of these minerals is uneven across regions.

Localized shortages of certain materials occur because the demand in high-growth areas often exceeds the current pace of geological investigation, mining planning, and licensing. The Ministry emphasized that the primary challenge is not a lack of resources, but the need for improved resource management and a national coordination mechanism, including the development of a national database to manage the supply chain from geological assessment to effective use.
