Vietnam proposes new tuition fee ceilings for 2026-2027 academic year

The Ministry of Education and Training has released a draft decree to amend and supplement policies regarding tuition fees, exemptions, reductions, and educational service costs.

Under the proposed draft for the 2026-2027 academic year, the tuition fee ceiling for public higher education institutions that do not yet ensure their own regular expenditures will remain largely consistent with current levels. For these non-autonomous institutions, monthly tuition is projected to range from 1.7 million VND to 3.5 million VND, depending on the field of study. Notably, the ceiling for dentistry has been adjusted from 2.66 million VND to 3.5 million VND per month.

For public universities that are self-financing and ensure their own regular expenditures, the maximum tuition fee is set at up to 2.5 times the standard ceiling for each specific field. In these autonomous institutions, tuition for health sciences could reach over 8.7 million VND per month.
