Vietnam proposes task forces to combat transnational scam networks

At the International Conference on Combating Online Scams (ICCOS-2026) in Phnom Penh, Vietnam's Deputy Minister of Public Security, Colonel General Nguyen Van Long, proposed the creation of specialized coordination task forces to combat transnational scam networks.

Long emphasized that online scams are a global phenomenon that threatens national security and cyberspace safety. He urged participating nations to focus on three primary areas: sharing effective prevention models, improving legal frameworks and cybersecurity, and establishing rapid coordination mechanisms between authorities.

The proposal specifically calls for each country to establish dedicated task forces to verify, investigate, and manage complex transnational scam cases through efficient information exchange. Additionally, the Deputy Minister encouraged countries to complete procedures to ratify the United Nations Convention against Cybercrime, also known as the Hanoi Convention.
