Vietnam provinces announce urban planning and infrastructure upgrades
Quang Tri province has directed the Department of Construction and local authorities to establish a general plan for eight urban areas to create a linked network by 2050. The plan includes Dong Hoi, Dong Ha, Ba Don, Hoan Lao, Quang Ninh, Le Thuy, Quang Tri, and Lao Bao. Dong Hoi and Dong Ha are designated as key Type II urban centers to drive development in the northern and southern regions. Notably, Lao Bao is identified as a strategic international border gate on the East-West Economic Corridor, connecting Vietnam with Laos, Thailand, and Myanmar.
In Lao Cai province, authorities have approved a 176 billion VND project to upgrade the 12.9km road connecting National Highway 70 to Lang Nu village in Phuc Khanh commune. The project, scheduled from 2026 to 2029, aims to repair infrastructure damaged by natural disasters, specifically Typhoon Yagi. The investment includes construction costs, compensation, and resettlement support, designed to ensure safe transportation and support socio-economic development in the region.
