Vietnam provinces focus on tourism growth and infrastructure

Tourism sectors in Thung Nai and Cao Bang are working to expand revenue and improve service quality. In Thung Nai, the region welcomed approximately 270,000 visitors during the first nine months of 2026, generating 72 billion VND in revenue. While revenue grew faster than visitor numbers, the area faces challenges including seasonal fluctuations, inconsistent service quality, and inadequate waste management. Infrastructure issues, such as non-synchronized road connections and the need for better passenger transport on the lake, remain significant hurdles.

Cao Bang reported receiving 2.6 million visitors in the first nine months of 2026, with total tourism revenue reaching nearly 3 trillion VND, a 27% increase compared to the same period last year. Despite this growth and recognition as one of Vietnam’s friendliest destinations, the province aims to increase international visitor numbers and average spending per tourist. Key priorities include addressing infrastructure bottlenecks like parking, public restrooms, and signage, while developing integrated travel routes to leverage the UNESCO Non Nuoc Cao Bang Global Geopark.
