Vietnam pushes digital reforms and broadens international ties, from US MIA handover to Venezuela earthquake rescue

Vietnamese officials attended the French Communist Party’s 40th congress in Lille from July 3‑5, meeting French leaders and discussing bilateral cooperation.

In Hanoi, Prime Minister Li Minh‑Xinh chaired a meeting on the National Digital Architecture Framework, while Deputy Prime Minister Pan Wen‑Jiang praised Vietnamese rescue teams operating in Venezuela after a deadly earthquake, noting the recovery of additional victims’ remains.

Other diplomatic activities included a joint US‑Vietnam ceremony in Da Nang handing over the remains of missing American service members, a labour‑cooperation discussion with Greece, and a cooperation meeting with Australia’s ACT chief minister. Vietnam also appointed three officers to senior roles in the UN‑MISS peacekeeping mission and received French media praise for its rapid digital‑infrastructure expansion. A new decree establishes a mechanism to attract scientists and experts to support Vietnam’s international integration, alongside participation in the UN’s Global Counter‑Terrorism Strategy review.
