Vietnam ramps up road safety inspections for floods and night‑time transport risks
The Vietnam Road Administration (Cục Đường bộ Việt Nam) issued an urgent directive ordering a rapid review of national highways and expressways. The Hanoi Department of Construction (Sở Xây dựng Hà Nội) ordered intensified inspections of passenger buses and large‑capacity cargo trucks that operate at night. The measure follows a particularly severe crash on kilometre 1839 of National Route 1 in Hưng Thịnh, Đồng Nai, and requires road‑management units, traffic‑inspection offices and transport operators to tighten vehicle maintenance, enforce technical safety standards and bar the use of unsafe vehicles.
