Vietnam ranks 16th globally in agricultural production value

Based on data from the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), Vietnam ranks 16th globally and 6th in Asia in terms of agricultural production value. In 2024, Vietnam's agricultural export value reached $56 billion, accounting for approximately 1.1% of the $5.2 trillion global agricultural output.

Globally, four nations—China, India, the United States, and Brazil—account for nearly 60% of total agricultural production value. China leads with $1.9 trillion (35.6%), followed by India at $537 billion (10.9%), the United States at $451 billion (8.6%), and Brazil at $204 billion (3.9%).

In Europe, Russia leads the region with $87 billion (1.7%), driven by grain production. Other significant European agricultural economies include France ($82 billion), Spain ($64 billion), Germany ($60 billion), and Italy ($56 billion), with a focus on high-value products such as wine, dairy, and olive oil.
