Vietnam ranks 9th globally in tourism safety and security index
Vietnam has ranked 9th globally in the safety and security index of the 2026 Travel and Tourism Development Index (TTDI), according to a report by the World Economic Forum (WEF). The country achieved a score of 6.52, representing an 18-place increase compared to 2024.
The WEF evaluates safety and security based on several factors, including trust in local police, perceived safety when walking alone at night, homicide rates, and the impact of terrorism and organized violence. International reports cited by the WEF highlight Vietnam’s high safety perception, low crime rates, and a zero terrorism impact index.
In the top 10 for this category, Vietnam is joined by nations such as Singapore, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Iceland, Switzerland, Finland, Kuwait, Bahrain, and Luxembourg. This improvement in safety metrics is viewed as a significant advantage for Vietnam as it pursues its goal of attracting 25 million international visitors in 2026.
