Vietnam readies swimmers and U‑23 football squad for ASIAD 20
Three of Vietnam's leading swimmers – Nguyen Huy Hoang, Tran Hung Nguyen and Pham Thanh Bao – travelled to China on 25 July for an intensive training camp that will run until mid‑September. The program is aimed at sharpening their fitness and race tactics ahead of the Asian Games scheduled for 13 September‑3 October in Japan, where the team hopes to add to the two gold medals won at the 2023 edition.
Vietnam's under‑23 football team began a second training camp on 29 July at the national youth centre in Hanoi, overseen by head coach Kim Sang‑sik and interim coach Đinh Hong Vinh. About 30 players, including standout U‑21 talents, will be assembled despite club commitments and injuries to key prospects. The squad is being prepared not only for the football tournament at ASIAD 20 but also as a stepping‑stone toward the 2027 SEA Games and future Asian and Olympic qualifiers.
