Vietnam attracts $40.63 billion in FDI amid industrial growth
Vietnam is experiencing significant shifts in its industrial and financial landscapes. In Ho Chi Minh City, authorities are researching mechanisms to transform existing industrial zones into eco-friendly, high-tech, and circular models to attract high-quality Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). In the first nine months of 2026, FDI into Ho Chi Minh City's industrial zones reached over $4.2 billion, a 62.22% increase.
Nationally, FDI inflows into Vietnam reached $40.63 billion in the first eight months of 2026, up 55.4% year-on-year. The real estate sector attracted $5.32 billion, making it the second-largest recipient of FDI after manufacturing. This influx is driving demand for industrial infrastructure, including logistics centers, factories, and worker housing.
In the financial sector, the fund management industry has grown significantly, with total assets under management reaching approximately 846 trillion VND by mid-2026. However, professional investment funds remain small relative to GDP. Meanwhile, economic analysis shows that while many companies achieve high profits, only about 5.9% of the top 500 profitable enterprises in Vietnam have maintained continuous profitability over a ten-year period.
