Vietnam Renames Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department

The Politburo of the Communist Party of Vietnam approved a restructuring of its propaganda apparatus, renaming the Ban Tuyên giáo và Dân vận Trung ương (Central Propaganda and Mass Mobilization Department) to Ban Tuyên giáo Trung ương (Central Propaganda Department). The change takes effect on 1 August 2026, coinciding with the sector’s traditional Propaganda Day.

The decision, signed by Secretary‑General Trần Cẩm Tú on behalf of the Politburo, also transfers the department’s mass‑mobilization advisory functions to the Party’s United Front Committee and other central mass organizations. The move follows Party resolutions and the Charter, and reflects a long‑standing plan to streamline party propaganda and mass‑mobilization work.
