The 2nd Session of the 16th National Assembly officially commenced on October 17, 2026, in Hanoi. The session is scheduled to last 28 working days, divided into two main periods, with a planned conclusion in late November. During this session, the National Assembly is expected to consider and pass 43 draft laws and resolutions, including significant legislation such as the amended Criminal Code, Land Law, and Housing Law.

Prime Minister Lê Minh Hưng presented reports on the 2026 socio-economic development plan and the state budget, alongside projections for 2027. Economic indicators for the first nine months of 2026 showed strong performance, with GDP growth reaching 9.01%. The government reported that 14 out of 15 major socio-economic targets were met or exceeded. Notably, state budget revenue for 2026 is estimated at 3.06 quadrillion VND, and total import-export value is projected to reach 1,110 billion USD.

Looking ahead, the government has set an ambitious target for GDP growth of 10% or more in 2027, focusing on macroeconomic stability and inflation control. The session will also feature a question-and-answer session with government members on November 12, covering key sectors such as health, education, and finance.
