Vietnam reports over 10,400 surplus land and housing sites pending processing

As of October 26, 2026, Vietnam has completed the processing of 21,127 surplus land and housing sites, representing approximately 67% of the total sites requiring action.

Central ministries and agencies have achieved an 84.5% completion rate, with 4,320 out of 5,115 sites processed. High completion rates were noted in the Ministry of Justice (98%) and the Ministry of Industry and Trade (97.3%). However, some entities show lower progress, such as the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (20%) and the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics (21.1%).

At the local level, 63.6% of the 26,415 required sites have been processed, leaving 9,608 sites outstanding. Tuyen Quang province reported the highest local completion rate at 98.1%, while other provinces like Bac Ninh and Lang Son also showed high progress.

In Dak Lak province, authorities are pushing for the finalization of surplus property management. While over 97% of the province's 937 transferred sites have processing plans, challenges remain regarding uneven implementation speeds, low lease contract rates, and difficulties in finding tenants for certain properties.
