Vietnam Sends Rescue Teams and Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake‑Stricken Venezuela

Following two strong earthquakes that struck Venezuela on 24 June 2026, Vietnam dispatched a large rescue contingent and humanitarian assistance. Around 124 Vietnamese defence and security personnel arrived at La Guaira International Airport, followed by a second wave of 174 rescuers equipped with search‑and‑rescue gear, police dogs and medical supplies. The mission also delivered more than 45 tonnes of aid, including food, water, shelter kits and medical equipment.

Vietnamese teams have been active in the most affected areas of La Guaira state, locating 11 bodies and continuing searches for additional victims. DNA samples from unidentified victims are being collected for identification. The rescue effort underscores the strengthening bilateral cooperation between Hanoi and Caracas in disaster response.

Vietnam’s involvement is part of a broader outreach that includes a recent visit by Vietnamese officials to the disaster zone and ongoing diplomatic messages of solidarity.
