Vietnam restructures State Steering Committee for Tourism
Vietnam has restructured its State Steering Committee for Tourism to enhance inter-sectoral coordination in the country's tourism sector. Deputy Prime Minister Pham Thi Thanh Tra has been appointed as the Head of the Steering Committee, with Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Lam Thi Phuong Thanh serving as Deputy Head.
The committee is composed of high-ranking officials from various ministries, including Defense, Public Security, Foreign Affairs, Finance, Industry and Trade, and Agriculture and Rural Development. Its primary function is to assist the Prime Minister in researching, directing, and resolving major inter-sectoral issues regarding tourism nationwide.
Key responsibilities include proposing directions and solutions for tourism development, coordinating between ministries and local authorities to implement national programs, and reporting legal or policy obstacles to the National Assembly and the Standing Committee of the National Assembly. The new decision governing the committee's operations is set to take effect on August 11, 2026.
