Vietnam reviews draft amendments to the Law on Metrology

The Committee on Science, Technology and Environment held its fifth session to review a draft amendment to the Law on Metrology. The proposed changes aim to institutionalize policies regarding science, technology, innovation, and digital transformation.

The draft focuses on three main pillars: advancing digital transformation and management methods, developing national measurement capacity while empowering businesses, and decentralizing authority alongside administrative reform. Key areas for discussion include the mechanism for determining the capacity of inspection and testing organizations, risk-based management, and the removal of certain regulations regarding pre-packaged goods.

Representatives from the Ministry of Science and Technology attended the session to support the legislative process ahead of the upcoming National Assembly session.
