Vietnam economic data shows retail growth and stable rice prices

Vietnam's economic and agricultural sectors show mixed trends. In the first nine months of 2026, total retail sales and consumer service revenue reached approximately 5,925.7 trillion VND, a 13.4% increase year-on-year. Total import-export turnover rose by over 30% to 888.02 trillion VND, with electronics and components remaining the largest export category.

In the agricultural sector, rice prices in the Mekong Delta have remained relatively stable. Specifically, raw rice varieties like IR 504 and CL 555 maintain steady prices, while fresh paddy prices for varieties such as OM 18 and Dai Thom 8 have seen slight fluctuations. On the international market, Vietnamese jasmine and fragrant rice are being offered at competitive rates, though international demand remains somewhat weak.

Globally, rice markets are experiencing volatility. Indian export prices have reached a one-year high due to concerns over declining domestic production caused by poor monsoon conditions. Meanwhile, Thai rice prices remain stable, and Bangladesh faces potential price increases driven by rising fuel costs affecting agricultural operations.
