Vietnam trade and agricultural sectors show strong growth
Vietnam's total import-export turnover reached $56.68 billion in the first half of October 2026, a 48.5% increase compared to the same period in 2025. This growth was driven largely by the electronics, computers, and machinery sectors, which saw significant surges in export value.
In the agricultural sector, rice export prices have risen to $440–$450 per ton, the highest level since August, supported by expectations of recovering demand from markets like the Philippines. Meanwhile, the aquaculture industry continues to drive growth, with aquaculture production reaching 4.86 million tons in the first nine months of 2026, a 5.9% increase.
New government regulations, specifically Decree 365, are being implemented to standardize the rice export and import business. The decree aims to ensure transparency, simplify administrative procedures, and require exporters to maintain minimum circulation reserves to stabilize domestic prices and support farmers.
