Vietnam rice prices see raw material declines amid shifting demand

Rice and raw material prices in Vietnam showed mixed trends on October 9, 2026. In the Mekong Delta region, raw material rice prices generally trended downward. Specifically, IR 504 prices decreased by 50 VND/kg to reach 8,600 – 8,700 VND/kg. While some varieties like OM 18 saw price drops, by-products such as fragrant broken rice and bran experienced price increases of 100 VND/kg.

In local markets, retail prices varied significantly by variety. Jasmine rice ranged from 13,000 to 20,500 VND/kg, while Nàng Nhen rice held the highest price at 28,000 VND/kg. In provinces such as An Giang, Dong Thap, and Can Tho, trading for the Autumn-Winter crop remained slow with relatively stable prices. Meanwhile, demand for rice imports has reportedly increased in the Philippines.
