Vietnam rice prices see slight increases amid market shifts

Rice prices in Vietnam's Mekong Delta showed slight increases on September 29, 2026. Raw rice varieties such as IR 504 and CL 555 both rose by 50 VND/kg. Additionally, fragrant broken rice prices increased by 100 VND/kg, reaching 8,900 – 9,000 VND/kg.

In Dong Thap province, trading activity remained low in areas like Sa Dec and Lap Vo due to weak warehouse demand. While some markets saw reduced transactions, specific varieties like Jasmine and Thai fragrant long-grain rice maintained prices between 13,000 and 22,000 VND/kg.

Amidst market fluctuations, some producers are focusing on specialized value-added products. In Phu Tho commune, Dong Thap, farmer Le Thanh Nhan has transitioned from cultivating Huyết Rồng rice to operating a complete processing line. Since 2019, the family has invested in milling, color sorting, and packaging machinery to develop a distinct market for their processed rice products.
