Vietnam road collisions highlight lane‑change and red‑light violations

On 15 June, a small vehicle attempted a lane change near a hard median on road 379 in Yên Mỹ, causing a bus to collide with it. Video of the incident shows the dangers of changing lanes without proper observation, and traffic safety experts stress that larger vehicles need longer braking distances.

On 19 June, a car in Phú Mỹ Hưng, Ho Chi Minh City ran a red light at an intersection and struck a motorcyclist. The crash forced the rider onto the ground; local regulations (Nghị định 168/2024) prescribe fines of up to 22 million VND and possible criminal liability for such violations.
