Vietnam rolls out social‑housing projects in Khánh Hòa and raises income thresholds in Ho Chi Minh City

The provincial government of Khánh Hòa announced the launch of 14 social‑housing projects priced at about VND 22 million per square metre. Buyers can obtain loans covering up to 80 % of the apartment value with an interest rate of 5.4 % per year, aiming to increase affordable housing for low‑income workers in the province.

In parallel, Ho Chi Minh City’s Department of Construction proposed raising the income ceiling for eligibility to purchase social housing. The new ceiling would be VND 60 million per month for households, up from VND 54 million, using adjustment coefficients of 1.1 for typical families and 1.2 for larger families with three or more dependents. The proposal, discussed by legal experts such as lawyer Hoàng Hà, seeks to broaden access while acknowledging limited housing supply.

Both measures reflect ongoing efforts by Vietnamese authorities to expand affordable housing stock and adjust eligibility criteria to better match local income conditions.
